A Cabin In The Woods

My sister's cabin is a beautiful place in a beautiful mountain setting.
 It's surrounded by pine and aspen trees.
 Streams and a big river run through the property. We always walk down to the river.
 Watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder is great entertainment.
 There are a few new furry decorations on the wall and on the floor this year.
 I took a nap until this guys watchful, if angry, eye.
 We saw a few deer on our wanderings, and there was plenty of evidence that they'd been visiting.
 {Deer Poop!}

And there were squirrels, which I was glad for because I haven't taken a good squirrel picture in a while!

The Best Dog

My sister has a dog. A perfect dog. The Perfect Dog. His name is Ollie.
Ollie is smarter than I am. He stays where he's told to stay. He sits next to the garbage can and doesn't dig through it.
He comes when you tell him to come.
He doesn't jump up on you. I really like dogs that don't jump on people. Just sayin',
Ollie is as close to doggie perfection as he can get.
 But just so you know that he doesn't sit all day looking noble, here's a glimpse of Ollie fun-loving side!

Girl's Weekend!

Last week was the yearly Girl's Weekend that I take with my mom and sisters. Oh, and my sister's dog, Ollie, comes too.We go to my sister's amazing cabin in Idaho for a few days of crafting, eating, movie watching, talking, talking and more talking, and some cackling.

This year's trip started out with a bit more excitement than was needed when my mom tripped and fell getting in the door. After an assesment, we decided that whatever was injured in her painful heel would wait for the time being and we wouldn't rush her back into town to the doctor. She did have to take it easy on the couch with an ice pack and an elevated foot.
Here's a rundown of the crafts we did! One of my sisters designs cards. Lots of cards. She's on the cutting edge of card making and has all the new techniques and tools. These are just a few of the cards we made:
 She also brought a wool stitching project, which I was so happy about because I could really get into wool stitching. I think I'll make a pillow with my block.
My other sister brought all the fixin's to make a monogrammed table runner with pleats. I love this! I have a whole vision in my head about how I'm going to use my runner when I decorate my table this Autumn!
 My project was a beaded keychain. We decorated danglies with paper, stickers and Mod Podge, then added beaded pendants. I like how they turned out!
 More on cabin adventures later, but I'll just leave you with a bit of this for now:

The Big World

It's a big ol' world out there...
So many things to kill, so little time. {sigh}

S&S

I love to watch Shannon ride Snoopy! Since we both ride him, our conversations about riding mostly consist of Shannon telling all those little things I need to do to get Snoopy where he needs to be. She should know- they are hard to beat, plus they are just so darn cute!
Snoopy loves a good neck rub- even if you happen to be on his back when the rubbing happens:
Oh, and his ears like attention too...
Yeah, I love to watch them together.

The Rose Ranch Show

Rose Ranch is a place where I can take horse show pictures. Here are few of my barn friends:

This cute lady is so fun to take pictures of- she's a little spitfire! A former airline stewardess from the classic stewardess era, she's about 5 feet tall.
She gets very emotional when she does well, and it's cute.
She has a young horse of her own, but has started to ride one of our lesson horses, Larry, at the shows. This is Larry's official portrait:
Larry lives next to Snoopy and they are best friends, to the point that Snoopy can have a panic attack if Larry comes to a show and Snoopy can't see him. Snoopy screams for Larry, "LAAAAAARRY!!!!" It can be quite traumatic. And loud.

Some other moments from the Rose Ranch Show:
