Better Bring My Bling!

Really? If you won a gold medal, would it be so important to wear your diamond covered mouthpiece on the awards stand? Can you imagine him packing his suitcase before the Olympics, "Better bring this with me, just in case!" His mother must be proud.

Wicked!

Bless my SIL! She had 2 extra tickets to Wicked in SL, and she called Bruce and me to see if we wanted them. Uh, yeah. It was...amazing.
On purpose, I have been avoiding anything to do with this play. I didn't listen to the score, I didn't try to find out about the storyline, because I knew that someday- I would see this play. I wanted it fresh, and I wasn't disappointed. I loved it and I'd love to see it again! If you get the chance, you've gotta go. Ask your SILs if they have any extra tickets!

Let The Games Begin!

Who is excited for the 2012 Summer Olympics? I am! I'll be watching the opening ceremonies tonight, and as much of the coverage as I can for the next 2 weeks! Go Team USA!

Green Chili Enchilada Casserole

My family usually likes flour tortillas in their Mexican food, but I came across this recipe that uses corn tortillas and it was delicious! Layered like a lasagna, this is quick and easy to make. Give it a try!

Green Chili Enchilada Casserole- 9x13 pan
3 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
2 cans Cream of Chicken soup
1 can chopped green chilies
2 small or 1 large green enchilada sauce
6 cups cheese, Cheddar or Monterrey Jack, or both
18 corn tortillas
1/2 onion, diced
2 green onions, sliced
Sour cream, for garnish

In a bowl, combine chicken, soup, green chilies and onion. Pour enchilada sauce into a pie pan. Coat 6 tortillas in enchilada sauce and layer in the bottom of the pan. Top with 1/3 chicken mixture and 1/3 cheese. Make 2 more layers of dipped tortillas, chicken and cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.Top with sliced green onion and sour cream.

I'm Liking Snapseed

Pioneer Woman featured a photo editing program on her website last week called Snapseed. I checked it out, loved it and paid the $19.99 to download it. With it you can do basic editing like cropping, straightening, rotating and sharpening. Then it has what we'll call "Action Sets" or overlays that you can apply to photos. Here's a picture that I took down at the Ogden Botanical Gardens:
Then I tried a few actions- I hope you can tell the difference with these. Here's Tune Image, Dark:
B&W, not so great for this particular image, but you get where I'm going.
Center Focus, Old Lens:
Grunge, Schmitz:
And it has several frames that you can thicken.
Plus, you can adjust the intensity and size of each overlay with slider bars. While you can't add text or correct with brushes or tools, I think this is a fun quick editing program and well worth the cost!

Stratford Campout- Fleece Fest

What's a campout without a craft? Lisa made these fleece pillows at her Girl's Camp, and brought her knowledge to show us how to make them. There was a lot of cutting...
 And tying...
And making headbands, (and pirate hats), from the scraps...

 And maybe some sleeping...
And proud pillow owners!

Stratford Campout- Hunger Games?

No, not really the Hunger Games, but we did decide that if we had to nominate a HG participant from our family it would be my nephew, Jacob. He's....a good archer.
He's also a good sport and patiently help everyone learn to shoot arrows at a target covered sack.
Some of the big compound bows he had were hard for the girls to pull back to shoot. That made him nervous for some reason.
Shannon was really into this archery thing. Look at that serious face. Katniss clone.
But those little arms needed help with the bigger bow.

Stratford Campout- Work Jobs

It wasn't all fun and games at the campout, because Bruce brought up a new load of sand for the fire pit and sand box.
Shannon was creative with the new fire pit sand- does that S stand for Shannon or Stratford?
Good thing we had some little helpers that pulled their own weight!
