Here are my favorite pictures from last's weeks horse show, besides the ones of Shannon and Rocko, of course.
I think this is one of the best from the show. The light was awesome- it had just stopped raining and it was overcast. We don't have very many men ride at our shows, so that makes it different. He's not staring me down and that's good too, plus his horse is pretty flashy.

The Lynnleigh Fox
A fox lives at Lynnleigh and we sometimes see him at the shows we go to there. Last week, he (she?) was feeling very social and we saw him 3 or 4 times. Rocko wasn't sure what that fox was and stared every time.
It's kind of nice to know that wild animals can find places to live in the middle of the city.

Lynnleigh Farm Show
Yes, you must look at more horse show pictures. If you're going to visit this blog, it's just gunna happen. :) These are all about Shannon and Rocko, so at least you might be related to the subject matter. I'm meaning Shannon, not Rocko.
Rocko has decided that the best way to get out of the horse trailer is to RUN. Backwards. It's been getting a bit stressful. Then Kari's husband, Lon, bullied him into standing still when the door opened. Like this: ( You can see Lon's hand inside the trailer.) Rocko figured out that he was in trouble and had to be coaxed out with a carrot.
Here Shannon is doing a riding fist pump because....well, I can't remember.
Shannon is all focused on turning a corner and Rocko is all focused on- ME!
I really like this one:
But this is maybe the best jumping shot I've ever taken of them.
The judge in her hut has her eyes glued on our little (little? Well, at least one of them is little.) pair.
This is sweet. Rocko is acknowledging his "your a good boy" pat on the neck by barely turning one ear. He's thinking, "Of course I was good. Now when do I get to eat?"
Great jump! Perfect form! Knees are up and ears are forward! Shadbelly coat is flying! Wait- your number is falling off!
When horses run, all 4 feet leave the ground at the same time. Pretty cool.
The Spring Lynnleigh show was rained out, so we were glad that we could go to this one in the Fall.

Flower Successes and Failures
I try to have as easy a yard to maintain as possible. Reason: weeding isn't fun. There are only a two places in my front yard that have bare dirt. Seed planting dirt. I always plant the same things in those two places. Nasturtiums and Zinnias.
Some people eat Nasturtiums. Not me.
This year's variety had blossoms in lots of colors:
The Nasturtiums were a success.
The Zinnias, on the other hand....were not. Maybe it was the wet Spring. Maybe the soil along that fence line is just worn out. I'm planning on bring some manure home from the barn and working it into the soil, then putting some decent potting soil on top. That should help. It's a good thing that my neighbor also planted Zinnias on her side of the fence this year- mine don't look so pathetic since they have friends close by.

Lots of bare dirt there. Sigh.
Still, I have enough Zinnia blossoms to cut and put on my kitchen table, and that's good enough for me.
