Pool Party Pages

Scrapping these pictures from last July REALLY makes me hungry for warm weather. The birds are coming back, so there might be hope yet. I won't be happy until it's at least 75 degrees outside! (I'm going to be hiding that hat that DH is thinking is so stylin"!)

The Saver's Suit

Youngest Son is competing in state DECA today and tomorrow. DECA is a business, marketing and finance training organization for high school students. They do role-play exercises, power point presentations, interviews and take written tests at these competitions. He and his buddies who are also competing went to Saver's last night to upgrade their wardrobes. He bought this suit and tie for $15.00. He loves it and calls it "legit". I think it looks pretty good too. This $15.00 suit might just go on a mission...

This Pie's A Keeper!

I made this no-bake pie for a Sunday treat and it was the best! The recipe is out of the latest Simple and Delicious:

Banana Cheesecake Pie
1 pkg. (11.1 oz.) no-bake home style cheesecake mix
1/2 c. crushed vanilla wafers (about 15)
2 Tbs. sugar
1/2 c. cold butter
1 c. plus 1 1/2 c. milk, divided
1 pkg. (3.4 0z.) instant banana cream pudding mix
2 medium bananas, cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 c. whipped topping
1/4 c chopped pecans, toasted

In a large bowl, combine contents of the crust mix, wafers and sugar.; cut in butter until mix resembles coarse crumbs. Press onto bottom and up sides of an ungreased 9 inch deep-dish pie plate. In a large bowl, beat 1 c. milk and content of filling mix on low speed until blended. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes or until smooth (filling will be thick). Spoon into crust. Chill for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk remaining milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Arrange banana slices over filling. Spread with pudding, then whipped topping. Sprinkle with pecans. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

A Bridal Shower

Yesterday my OD and I went to a bridal shower for my nephew's fiance. She is truly one of the nicest people I know, and we are excited for her and Cam. They will be married in 2 weeks. It is always so much fun to get together with my mom, sisters and nieces. We laugh like fools! I look at my nieces and I'm amazed at how beautiful they are! It's an added bonus when my niece Sophie comes. My brother and his wife have had her for about 6 months now, and she is precious. Sophie is quite her own little person and I love to see what she will do next! We all had fun, but our time together always seems so short. We need to plan another Sisters Weekend!

Meet Alverson

Alverson, or Alvey for short, is the barn goat. He passes the time by climbing to the top of the hay pile, pushing his head against walls and scratching his back in an unnatural way with his horns. Alvey used to butt people and chase small children until Kari loaned him to the paint horse people for their goat-tying event. He's been much better behaved since then. Rocko told the horse psycic that he finds the goat much more interesting than the dogs and he wants to share his treats with Alvey.

Ok, So He's Pampered

My horses are like children to me, so they get the very best care. Rocko is no exception, he just doesn't appreciate the pampering as much as Sophie did. It must be because he's a boy. Every day he get a "bucket". Buckets are his favorite thing, because they are full of goodies. He doesn't know that his buckets has healthy stuff too. Kind of like the pureed broccoli in the pizza sauce thing. This is what goes into Rocko's bucket:
- Alfalfa Pellets to add some meat to his skinny bones.
- Hoof Supplement for strong hooves and a healthy tail.
- Fast Track Digestive Aid so he won't colic.
- Super 14 which is powdered fat as far as I can tell, for a very shiny coat.
- Joint Juice (I could probably use some myself!)
- Vegetable Oil for even more shine!
-Apples, carrots and animal cookies, because we love him.
Then we add some water to make it all sloppy because he likes to slurp and make noise when he eats it. I know it looks gross, but Rocko loves it!

I've Been Everywhere, Man

You know that Johnny Cash song, right? Love that song. So what do you do when you go on vacation and you want to get something to remember your trip, but you don't really NEED anything? Here's an idea- get a bumper sticker and put it on your garbage can. That's what we do. We've been doing it for years and are probably on the 3rd or 4th generation of stickers. Our priests did a fundraiser last month- they power-washed the insides of garbage cans for people in the Stake. When our can showed up they took special care to preserve our stickers. I think our garbage can is awesome.
