Bruce and I went to the Phoenix area last week for work. I know, so sad that we had to leave the -0 temperatures and the inversion in Utah and go to somewhere warm! We worked 9 hour days for 4 days in a row and decided to reward ourselves with a drive up to Sedona with some other Utah worker bees. We didn't know much about Sedona, other than it was said to be beautiful. Thanks to Bruce's iPad, we did a bit of research and found out that Sedona had vortexes! "Well, we're going to the vortexes!", we all cried.
What's a vortex? Good question. I found this definition:
In Sedona vortexes are created, not by wind or water, but from spiraling spiritual energy. The vortexes of Sedona are named because they are believed to be spiritual locations where the energy is right to facilitate prayer, mediation and healing. Vortex sites are believed to be locations having energy flow that exists on multiple dimensions. The energy of the vortexes interacts with a person’s inner self. It is not easily explained. Obviously it must be experienced.
Spiraling spiritual energy? Energy flow? Multiple dimensions? Ok, whatever. We drove to vortexes, we hiked to vortexes, we stood on what we thought might be vortexes and made the Vulcan finger sign because it looks like a V.While I didn't feel much spiritual energy or energy flow, in fact, my legs were sore from all that hiking, I did appreciate the Southern-Utah-like beauty of the place.Funny moment: We ended up at a bluff that over looked the city (see photo above). Side note: The bluff was "guarded" by an 80 year old man who was wearing a gun and asking for donations. Anyway, I'm snapping away with my camera, being irritated by all those houses that were ruining my landscape shots. (What are houses doing here anyway?) I must have looked like I knew what I was doing because several people asked me to take photos of them with their cameras. I could have set up shop with the 80 year old man and he would have protected me with his gun.
