That is the question.
With all the recent hubbub about Facebook, I want to know: Do you or don't you? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it?
I don't Facebook. Not only do I not have the time to, but I think it sucks you into a big blob of unproductive non-activity. But that's just my opinion.
One of Peter's friend's just got home from a mission in California. His mission was part of a pilot program where missionaries taught investigators, mostly in other countries, via Facebook. Those missionaries were required to be on Facebook for several hours a week.
Will Facebook become a requirement for functioning in normal society in the future, like when the Interweb was started or e-mail caught on?
Tell me what you think.
Interesting post - I have a facebook page that I used primarily to see who my kids were talking to and who was talking to my kids back in the day. I basically don't facebook now, except to wish people happy birthday etc. I think a lot of people who can't get out of "high school" use it as a virtual social life. Kind of pathetic IMO.
ReplyDeleteI facebook, my husband does not. I do not update my status daily, I have a whopping 85 friends. Because I have so few friends I get to actually stay in contact with all of them. I have a book club and a family only section (for my dads side). I like being able to see how people are doing. Look at pictures of my friends kids or get reminded about events happening in my local area (one of my 'friends' is Heber city). I do use it for a social life. I get to learn what my cousin in Oregon is doing or if my good friend in Korea isn't kidnapped by the N.Korea government... stuff like that. I'm glad I have it. Just like the search engine on your browser, Facebook can be used for good or bad. Just make sure you know what you want from it.
ReplyDeleteAnother non-FBer here. I just don't see the point. I keep in touch with who I want to keep in touch with.
