If you ever have the urge to plant chives in your yard, resist it. Although chives might taste good on your baked potato, they are actually a plague upon the land. Their self-seeding instincts are as strong as the day is long. I planted chives years ago and they haunt me to this day. Look how thick they are:
They have crossed the cement walk to invade other plantings:
They have even started a foothold in the window well:
So, please, for your own sanity, don't plant chives. Plant onions instead and harvest them when they're little.
On the bright side, the peonies, daylilies and mini iris are up and lookin' fine!
I have the same problem with some Bishop's Weed I shouldn't have planted in a section of the yard. We've pulled it several times and it just keeps coming back.
