Bear Lake Monsters
At Ciscos, where Lindsey works, there is a very healthy population of carp. Ewww. Some of these bad boys must be ancient because they are almost 3 feet long- I think they might be mistaken for the Bear Lake Monster:
Lindsey likes to dangle her feet off the dock and have them suck on her toes. Ewww. No one else seemed to want to join her.
We created a frenzy by feeding them from our snack bucket. This guy liked pretzels:

Bear Lake 4th (or 5th!)
For the 5th of July, we celebrated at Bear Lake, renting a boat from Cisco's, where Lindsey works.

We found a spot along the beach to set up a base-camp.

The water is so high that there's not much of a beach, so Bruce had to drag the boat up into the shallows as far as he could.
After fortifying ourselves with lots of water, snacks and sunscreen, we began our adventure...

Baby Birds
Lots of birds live and make babies at Rose Ranch. At the June show there, without fail, there is stress over baby birds- either we find dead baby birds, or we find baby birds that can't fly, or baby birds want to live with us- you get the picture. Shannon, bless her black heart, wants the huge barn cats to eat the baby birds. Our friend Ann, the romance novelist, wanted to step on and squish them, because "they were just going to die anyway." But my 8 year old friend, Jennifer, being a lover of all animals, tried to save them all.
She made a donut box home for this one complete with a straw bed,and hand-fed it worms dug up from the mud puddles. Honestly I don't know if it survived, but it's good to see such a soft heart.
