New Year, New Shirts

I tried my hand at creativity and designed the 2012 Saltiare Farm shirts. They pack a bit more visual punch than last years shirt, I think.

They will be able to order sweatshirts, polos and T-shirts.We'll see if the folks at the barn like them.

Antipasto Platter

You need the recipe for this Antipasto Platter. It is the perfect appetizer or summer pot luck offering. And it's easy!

Antipasto Platter -serves 14-16
1 jar (24oz.) pepperoncinis, drained
1 can (15oz.) garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
2 c. halved fresh mushrooms
2 c. halved cherry tomatoes
1/2 lb. Provolone cheese, cubed
1 can (6oz.) whole olives, drained
1 pkg. (31/2oz.) sliced pepperoni
1 bottle (8oz.) Italian dressing
Lettuce leaves
In a large Ziplock bag, combine all ingredients except the lettuce leaves. Marinate for 30 minutes or overnight. Drain and serve on a lettuce lined platter.

On a side note, when I went to the store, I didn't like the looks of any of the lettuces, so I picked up some mustard greens to line the plate. The nice colored lady at the checkout wanted to know if I'd ever cooked them before, then proceeded to tell me how to cook them. She was being so nice, I didn't have the heart to tell her that mustard greens fall into my "never would I eat you" category. But now I know how to cook them. If I wanted to. Which I don't.

H Family Shoot

Right before Christmas I had a photo shoot with the H family. We went out to a park waaay out in West Layton. Or maybe it was Syracuse. In any case, it was very west. It was also very sunny. After 3 weeks of inversion cloud cover, on that day it was sunny.

 I like to shoot in cloud cover or shade- helps with the squinty eyes and the shadows. But, it was what it was and we went to work with 5 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. The dogs were the least cooperative.

With the wind chill, it was about 25 degrees that day and Grandma almost froze, poor thing.

Grandson quickly grew tired of the whole scene, (can't say as I blame him), so I had to use several of my "c'mon and smile for me, kid" techniques on him. The one that really worked with him was, "You don't have to smile until I say 3. On 3, you smile, and then you're done." I've learned many negotiation methods when it comes to kids of a certain age.

I learn something new every time I shoot. Pretty soon there won't be any more room in my brain.

Ogden Temple Progress

 I drove past the Ogden Temple construction site the other day to see how things were coming along. There's definitely progress being made, but it will be a long time before we're 15 convenient minutes from a working temple. Sure miss that.

Frock Shop

Every once in a while, my sister who lives in Idaho brings her cute (redheaded) daughter down to our area to do clothes shopping, usually school shopping. They invite my other sister and me along and we have a great time playing dress up with our niece. That cute little redhead is growing up now and is in the market for prom dresses, which takes our little shopping trips to a whole new level!

Niece's job: Try on beautiful dresses, then give the thumbs up, or the thumbs down.

"Love the top, hate the skirt."

 Our job: Give our opinions freely and take pictures.

"Too much cleavage!"

"Wrong color, but I love the style!"

 "Needs more bling on top!"

"I look like a Christmas tree!"

"This might be the one!"

 "But I really like this one too!"

 "Hmmm...!"

 "This is the one!"

 Yes, she chose well and will be the envy of all at the Prom-

 I like this shopping upgrade!

January Subway Art

Ok, this ranks up there with the cutest and completely no-effort craft ever. All you need is a color printer and a frame. It's called Subway Art, ( I'm not sure why!), and I found a link to free downloads on...Pinterest!
