Summer Road Trip- The End, I Promise.

I know you are wondering if The Summer Road Trip ever ends. Well, it does. And in a beautiful place, too.

On the beach. I have such a fun family and we had a great vacation together!

Summer Road Trip- Yoga on the Beach

The beach is a perfect place to do yoga, if you happen to be into that sort of thing. My kids are into that sort of thing because they all do P90X, which has a yoga DVD. They are surprisingly flexible- which is easy for a 47-year-old, non-flexible person to say.
 Look how pretty...
Are you shocked that Bruce had to give it a try too? He wasn't so pretty...

Time for the human pyramid!
 Wahoo!!

Summer Road Trip- How Not To Do A Cartwheel.

After the hustle and bustle and crowds of Southern California, we escaped to the beach at Santa Monica. It felt so good to be out in the open beach-y air! Of course, wandering down the beach turned into Feats of Strength on the beach, so a cartwheel contest began. Here Bruce will show you how not to do a cartwheel.
He was, unfortunately, mocked for his efforts.
Then it was Brian's turn, and he didn't do much better, I'm afraid. But he did begin his effort with some stretches.
The girls and Ben were a bit more coordinated about the whole thing.
We may need to visit the chiropractor after this activity.

Summer Road Trip- Carnage on Rodeo Drive

So there we were, acting all posh and sophisticated while window shopping on Rodeo Drive. Suddenly, above us...a hawk flew down the street with a pigeon in it's claws! The hawk landed in a palm tree and proceeded to eat the pigeon. Such an unlikely thing to happen in a place like Rodeo Drive, right?

Let me tell you, it stopped all foot traffic. Feathers would float down from the palm tree as the pigeon was consumed.
I got some advice on the best angle to catch this shot from a nice homeless man in a wheelchair. He pretty much insisted that I do it his way. He was right.
Brian, who was not into window shopping- or any shopping- of any kind- just wanted to watch the hawk.

Summer Road Trip- Rodeo Drive

Being the cool and classy family that we are, we drove down to Rodeo Drive to see how "the other 7/8th's" live. It was fun to see all of the high end designer shops and amazing window displays.
Leave it to Prada to make the biggest suitcase known to man. This would be perfect for Lindsey's shoes!
 Harry Winston Jewlery. Pretty shmancey!
What a car like this says to me: "Look at me! Look at me! All eyes must behold my coolness!"
This must be how the beautiful people maintain their beautifulness.
Funny thing, but most of the people shopping on Rodeo Drive spoke with Eastern European accents, like Russian. Interesting.

Tomorrow: The carnage that can be Rodeo Drive.
