San Diego- Last Day!

On Wednesday, we went to the zoo to see the new Elephant Odyssey exhibit. It was pretty neat! They tied the whole exhibit into animals whose ancestor's bones had been found in the La Brea Tar Pits. The thing I liked best was that they had built a whole elephant care center, with the important part being the elephants, not what the visitors would see. My favorite animal was the Jaguar, who was swimming and diving in her water the whole time. We also saw some Capybara, (we call them Beaver-Pigs), from Venezuela. After the zoo, we met a hotel rep at what is now my favorite hotel in San Digo- The Sophia. (www.thesophiahotel.com) It was built in 1927, and has been retro-fitted so beautifully! Of course, several ghosts live there, including a cat that kneads your bed sheets! We went to lunch at the hotel's restaurant, Currant, which is like an open-air French bistro. The chef makes favored popcorn! The favor when we were there was Pesto and Sun-Dried Tomato. Delicious!
